Members are the heart of our organization, and volunteers — without a doubt — are our lifeblood.

Communications Committee
As part of its Outreach efforts, WGA develops a number of communications throughout the year. Volunteer your time to help us with our newsletter and publications.
There are numerous ways to pitch in:
- Photographers – Snap photos at our events with your camera or smartphone.
- Writers – Write a story monthly or quarterly for eNews or help draft scripts for our signature events, from the comfort of your own home.
- Social Media Content Creator – Write a post once a week or once a month, whatever works for your schedule.
- Content Editor – From events to eNews, offer feedback.

Events & Programs
We’re always in need of volunteers to help us put on exceptional educational events in the community. This includes visits to agencies, panel discussions, featured speakers and special workshops. Help us set up events, greet members and guests, distribute literature and name tags and check people in. We also need Members to join our committee.
Events (Making Them Happen!)
If you have a mind for hospitality and logistics, and you like meeting and greeting people, we have the perfect opportunities for you! You can help WGA host our two large Member luncheons (Member Forum in the spring and Annual Meeting in the fall). Activities are low-stress and fun, e.g., assembling materials and handouts, setting up the conference room and greeting guests and members.
Finance Committee
Members meet quarterly to review financial statements, prepare budgets and address other financial topics that may need to come before WGA’s Leadership Team. The Committee works closely with The Community Foundation’s Executive Vice-President and CFO.
Grants Committee
The varied talents of over 60 volunteers are central to our grantmaking process. This committee helps us determine which nonprofit agencies receive funds from our Grants Pool. Then, after grants are funded, committee members follow up with grantees throughout the life of their WGA grants.
- Committee Members — Join one of the three Grants sub-committees: Grants Decision Team, Grants Finance Team or Grants Evaluation (post-funding) Team.
- Volunteer Readers – Contribute to the Grants Decision Team by reviewing grant proposals and submitting comments electronically. No meetings are involved, but there is one mandatory training session once per year.

Neighborhood Connector Groups/Membership
Neighborhood Connector Groups grew out of Members’ interest in getting to know one another in small, close-to-home settings twice a year. Our volunteers connect and welcome new and seasoned Members.
- Hostess – Offer your home as a meeting place for a neighborhood meeting organized by your Connector.
- Hospitality – Assist with light snacks and ensure everyone feels welcome.
- Content – Help each nighborhood’s Co-Connectors develop programming content for each Connector meeting that resonates with neighborhood members.
- Driver – Provide carpooling services when needed.
On-call
Ready to jump in and assist WGA when the unexpected occurs? Pitch in on varied tasks that are short in duration. Sign up as an on-call volunteer!
