Who We Are

About WGA

We Are Women United to Give

We envision a world in which all women and girls can reach their full potential and live healthy, enriching lives. The Women’s Giving Alliance is a vibrant community of more than 470 Members. We’re passionate leaders, mothers, daughters, business professionals, mentors and volunteers. As an initiative of The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida (TCF), WGA leverages more than 50 years of TCF’s philanthropic experience and financial stewardship.

WGA Members ensure our message of strategic philanthropy is transferred to the community and future generations.

WGA Welcomes All Women

Our Members join because they want to make a difference in our community. All Members support WGA by making an annual gift; some choose to donate time as well. From attending educational events or attending Neighborhood Connector groups to volunteering for committees and special projects, there are dozens of ways to get involved. And if you’re not yet ready or able to become a Member, consider donating to the current Grants Pool, special projects or our operations. You can contribute to work you care about, remember a loved one or honor family and friends.

“WGA is a perfect example of how a diverse group of people can provide a strategic and accessible way for individuals to make a greater positive impact by pooling our financial resources.”
Doreen Gross, Member
“When a Member invited me to join, I thought WGA wasn’t for me. I came from a working-class family and didn’t think I was a philanthropist. Through WGA, I see we all have a place at the table and that I am indeed a philanthropist! I love that I can have a greater impact through collective giving.”
Kristi Brandon, Member
“Is ‘strategic philanthropy’ just jargon? As a new Member, I wasn’t sure. But 10 years later, I see that I have significantly clarified my giving and indeed am more strategic. I recently updated my end-of-life documents and WGA’s influence was quite evident. I’m so thankful.”

Collective giving is what we do and strategic philanthropists are who we are.

Our mission is two-fold: improve the lives of women and girls in Northeast Florida through collective giving, and inspire women to be strategic philanthropists. Regarding our first objective, 429 members pooled their gifts in 2022 to make $660,000 in grants — the largest single year distribution in WGA’s 20-year history — benefiting women and girls in Northeast Florida.

We also work to help WGA Members become informed, collaborative philanthropists.

Our Mission, Vision, Statement of Values, and Guiding Principles

Our Mission

Inspiring women to be strategic philanthropists and investing in the lives of women and girls in Northeast Florida.

Our Vision

Collective, strategic philanthropy creates a strong, vibrant community where women and girls lead healthy, enriching lives, and contribute their full potential to make Northeast Florida a robust region to live, work and play.

Our Statement of Values

Diversity, equity and inclusion are central to WGA’s vision and mission. WGA actively invites women of different backgrounds, perspectives, opinions, passions, experiences, personalities, ideologies, and lifestyles. We believe that bringing together diverse voices — and the conversations and connections that result — makes us stronger.

Our Guiding Principles

The Women’s Giving Alliance commitment is to:

  • Reach out and welcome all women who wish to join
  • Build relationships among women united in their desire to improve the lives of women and girls
  • Develop a membership of educated philanthropists who understand community needs and become informed, pioneering grantmakers
  • Collaborate with funding partners and community organizations to empower women and girls
  • Conduct our grantmaking with integrity, fiscal responsibility and respect for our grant recipients
